Friends and Family Fun Hunt
February 2, 2011 by Marshall Springer
Hello everyone, welcome to the first installment of the "Buffalo Butte Blog". Our goal is to share what's going on at the ranch with all of our great friends we've made over the years.
Two weekends ago (January 21&22) we had our annual "Friends & Family" fun hunt. At a balmy 18 degrees it wasn't the coldest fun hunt but the wind and snow sure helped to keep the pheasants bunched up in the trees and cattails. And bunched up they were!
In a short two hour hunt, estimates were well over a thousand birds in the air. Every hunter had a gun but no video cameras. I will try and get some new flush video this winter. Running out of shells was a shared problem at the end of the walk but over 70 birds were harvested. Everyone had a great time and I even got to shoot a few birds.
